An article from the #BBC's #LearningEnglish, which I found out to be extremely fascinating, says that it is imperative to run regularly in order to keep you fit and maintain a healthy immune system (not only considering the current threat of Covid19 pandemic), and also to reduce your chances of an early departure to heaven (that is, if there is one ;D ). Therefore if we talk about India, the figures are not very impressive and are rather quite disturbing. Over a quarter of people both men and women living in the urban areas are obese or overweight according to a recent statistics released by the #IndianExpress. Whereas people living in some parts of rural areas are considered malnourished and underweight.

One of the major reason for the obesity of the people living in urban India is their busy lifestyles combined with the excessive use of technology and gadgets in one's daily activities. A daily routine keeps an individual so busy that from a teenager to a millennial, people scarcely get time to perform leisure activities which involves effective physical movements of the body parts. Life is not easy with such high levels of workload, people are somehow managing to cope up with the situation. Each and every step is irrevocable in so many cases. As for instance, if you're stuck in one-way traffic during peak office hours there is no turning back i.e it is impossible to get out of it.

Whereas on the flip side, if we talk about the undernourishment among rural population in India which is very likely to be amongst the impoverished, Certain reasons, for an instance, over population, has contributed to a large extent for this problem to carry on from their ancestors till today's contemporary world. Recently the global index hunger has listed India in 100th position among 118 countries, which itself mirror's an extremely crucial unfortunate fact about the health of our countrymen. Moreover, another reason which I believe is essential in this scenario is economic inequality amongst the citizens of the nation. The income-per-capita gap is too wide at certain places and amongst certain groups in the country.

Therefore, it is very important for every individual to chip-in and play their own role to initiate a much needed change for the betterment of their physical and mental health. Regular running is the need of the hour and should be encouraged within each and every family. The government too needs to play it's crucial role to motivate people to take better care of their health. Attractive and easy-to-access jogging or running tracks should be made available to the public and activities like cycling and marathons should be promoted too.
